COACHES COMMENTARY
What a season. I can't express the gratitude to these boys and our parents for such a wonderful time this year. How much I would love to replay this season again and again with these boys. I believe that everyone of our boys have made huge steps during the season in baseball, the thrill of competition, sportsmanship and life in general. I would call this season a complete success. We have made friendships that I know will last a lifetime. I hope that everyone of our boys are already looking forward to next season. I want to thank Dina Chappell for doing a wonderful job of keeping the scorebook despite me hounding her during the games wanting to know the score. She always let us know where every player on the other team had hit the ball. That really paid off several times. I want to also thank her and her husband John for hosting a wonderful team party. We swam and ate our fill of hamburgers and hotdogs, masterfully prepared by Dina's dad. We also ate ice-cream, gave out trophies and the boys got to dunk me for every win they got this season. Boy, its not easy getting ducked 21 times. I want to thank Melissa Greathouse for bringing the drinks to every ballgame. They really hit the spot in the heat of battle. Especially when I would sneak a drink of Mikey's during a game and then watch him look at it funny the next time he picked it up. I also want to thank our assistant coaches who I have failed to mention all year. Tony Humber coached the first base side on offense and defense. David Haynes coached third base. Phillip Moody ran the dug-out and filled in on the bases. Steve Greathouse filled in running the dug-out. They all did a great job. I want to thank our parents for the nice plaque and gift certificates they gave me at the team party. Now for todays game. What a ballgame. I almost got the boys off balance a little by getting choked up before our pre-game prayer. I couldn't help it after growing so close to these boys and now realizing I won't see them as much as I have been. The Yankees played a great game. They had us down the first two innings. Then our boys roared back in the third. Mikey caught another fly ball and tagged a base for a double-play. Then our boys came in and smacked the ball for eight runs and took control of the game. In the bottom of the third we had to have two outs to win. Josh got a double-play at second to end the game. All of the boys played so great. Dylan made two outs at second by making some great stops on some hard hit balls. Logan made some more great stops and throws as always, I will never forget that slide he made against the Diamondbacks. Kyle did a great job as usuall, he was stretching out at first base to catch the ball like you see Andres do in Atlanta. Adam, Seth, Aaron and Benji made some great plays getting the ball back in to keep some of their best hitters from getting homeruns off great hits. They ended the season showing us just how great they really are by beating a very good Yankees team. This web-site will remain as a tribute to a great bunch of boys who are the best T-ball team I have ever seen. God bless everyone.
